I opened up the drawer and found a happy little Seth inside!
Seth has been getting in to everything! Does that just come with turning one? I have already forgotten! I think we're going to be in for it! I just found him eating a whole piece of chalk while I was posting this.
You can't see it very well, but Seth is clapping his whole heart out during the birthday song. He loves it when we sing to him. He was pretty tickled. (I didn't have a candle and this turned out being safer anyway. :)
Seth's first bite of cake... I think he liked it!

Happy 1st Birthday Man Cub...
We celebrated Seth's 1st birthday today!
Amberlee spend hours making a little drum for Seth out of a yogurt container. He actually loved it and knew just what to do. I think that was one of my favorite parts about today! She is such a good girl! Always so thoughtful!
The girls help me make Seth a dinosaur cake (The dinosaur was Doug's idea- he is such a good dad. He totally picked that out for him, as well as the "cars" sleeping bag.)- As you cane see, I am lacking in the cake decorating department. I see what some of you do and I am completely amazed! But we still had fun and it tasted good!

Sunny Day...
We have to take advantage of the sunshine! We got out and I let the kids play for a little bit. It felt so good! Seth is loving his new found freedom! I think he is going to have a lot of fun this summer!
I was playing a little game with Amberlee, and I didn't even notice little Seth. He had climbed up the stairs and slid down the slide all by himself. I think he was a little surprised, and then delighted. :) I'm just glad he stopped at the bottom and didn't go flying out. It was funny to see him show up at the bottom!
Fresh Spring Air, and Fresh Spring Dirt...
...in Seth's mouth of course. Where else?! Seth made a break for it and came back with this...
And he was purely delighted about the whole thing! :)

"One" is more fun...
...and more exhausting. We have been pretty sick around here for the last two or three weeks. We even had to take Seth to the ER because he was having such trouble breathing. He has had ear infections and breathing treatments. It was scary for a little while, but he is doing much better. We're almost all over it- I have had a lingering soar throat, cough and ear infection, and Doug and Amberlee got hit by the flu. I don't know how Autumn came out so unscathed-- knowing her though, she probably was sick and just dealt with it without a word. That is totally how she rolls. :) Anyway- we're on the mend and we had fun celebrating today.
My little guy turned ONE today! I can hardly believe it! It is all such a flash, but I just couldn't do without this little guy in my life. His big smile brightens every day! He is so good natured and special! I know he really loves me, too. It just kind of makes me feel good- he just loves to snuggle me and he follows me around all day like a little puppy- I think I kind of wear him out. He prefers it when I stay in one room. Preferably the kitchen because he has a few cupboards and drawers figured out, as you can see...
...Seth knows where to get breakfast. I find him there frequently munching on Life cereal or mini wheats- sometimes with his mouth so full! As you can see on his face, he know he shouldn't be in theThis is his favorite drawer. I have given up trying to keep this drawer organized. His favorite game is to empty the whole thing, and so my new goal is just to try to make sure everything makes it back in... without getting too dirty or slobbery. :) His new favorite thing he figured out all by himself is climbing into the drawer. I'm not sure how to stop this behavior when it delights him so much to be in there. Especially when I think it looks so cute. :) He gets away with way to much!
He is such a fast crawler that he hasn't shown much interest in walking. Both the girls were walking by this time, so Doug and I have been a little nervous. We've been practicing with him and he is starting to figure it out, he just get's really impatient about it and drops fast. He'll pick it up pretty quick her. He stands for quite a while without noticing and he moves from one piece of furniture to the next pretty quickly.I look pretty scary in this clip, but I just wanted to post it so that you could see how Seth sounded. This isn't even at his worst- he was so back, choking all the time! It just broke my heart. I'm so glad he is feeling better! The breathing treatments seemed to help.

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble...
Seth is much more mobile and he gets himself "stuck" frequently. It is quite entertaining really... "forgive me, a cruel chuckle..." :)
Seth's favorite place is the bottom drawer where I keep the kid cups and plates. He sits there and completely empties it, then puts them all back and does it again. He never seems to get tired of it-- I love it! I'll just be in there doing dishes and it just makes me smile to turn around and see him busy "doing his own dishes" :) He is such a sweet little guy! So easy going! Poor thing- he has had a bad ear infection lately, so he hasn't been quite as pleasant, but he's trying. :)

More fun at the park...
Autumn is quite the climber (with a little help from dad! :) By the way- Doug is sporting his new glasses- the lens popped out of the old pair and slid right down the toilet. Isn't that too funny... and sad and expensive at the same time. He tried really hard to retrieve them- but no use. :) So he is wearing a lovely new expensive pair. Let's hope they last a little longer!
Home again... Home again!

Fun at the Park...
It has been so nice to have a break from school and do a few fun things with Doug! Today we went to a Children's Discovery center and I can't believe I forgot my camera! It was fun though!
Family Bike Ride...
Doug got the bikes all oiled up and ready to go and we went on a fun family ride to the park. It was so nice to get out! We are in the middle of Spring Break here and the weather has been quite cooperative! We had a fun time- I'm so proud of how big Amberlee is getting to ride the whole way herself. (She did feel a little ripped off that couldn't ride in the trailer at the end when she had to walk her bike up the big hill. :) But she kept up pretty well- she takes it quite seriously. :)
Seth LOVED the bike trailer- he talked the whole way and he kept patting the mesh. I think he is ready for spring! :)

Leave the Boy Alone, Timothy...
Can you believe this girl? Where did we get her? Actually, I know exactly where. Doug came up with this "dramatic" phrase. Don't ask me who "Timothy" is. I don't even know who they are talking about- the things in Doug's head-- it seemed like some kind of dramatic "Lord of the Rings" scene or something. He was cracking us up with the funny way he way saying it, and obviously Amberlee picked up on it, because I caught her dramatically reciting it the next day.

Dress-up...
I don't know why I even get Autumn dressed in the morning, because she is almost always in something else "fancy" before the end of the day!
Luckily it was a clean one. :)
This is Amberlee and her neighbor friend Amara who came play. I thought they were cute with their babies.

Joy School
I am firmly resolved to start a consistent joy school with the girls. I have started a couple times with the girls hit and miss, and we do a fun little group one with some friends once a week. (They know the beginning of the alphabet pretty well. :) But this time, I decided to create a board to hang on the fridge to track our progress. It has been really fun and simple so far. We just pick a letter, word, number, and sometimes color and shape of the day and do a simple project to go with it. I think I am most excited about the site words for Amberlee- it has really been helping her reading. I used the Dolch site word list. This pictures is of a fun project we did about color. They had fun mixing to create new colors. I wish I could have recorded the surprise on their face when they saw the brand new colors it made. :) The simple things that delight them! I love it! After we turned to basically "brown" in each cup I just let them pour from cup to cup and it kept them busy for almost an hour. :) I love projects like that. (I did have to have a towel handy, but it was worth it.)
Just after we started working on letters, Autumn called me in to see the letter she made out of the ducks. :) She is picking it up pretty quick and wrote her whole name for the first time this last week! GO AUTUMN!

A glimps into our lives...
This was just a quick clip of the Vaseline incident. (Not that I really want to remember. :)
Typical Autumn- she was experimenting with her "witches cackle" over dinner.
The girls know how to get Seth going! How about crazy Amberlee in this one. She was on one! I am pleased to announce that she has lost her second tooth! (Much to the relief of all of us!) After almost 4 weeks of wiggling and whining about it, Doug and I literally pinned her down and pulled it out. So for how graceful that first one was, we definitely made up for it with this one. (I seriously tried everything. There is a cross-eyed, hot-pink mermaid I found at the dollar store that she was wishing for with all her heart. At one point I was trying to bribe her and I asked what she would want- I was ready to give her anything, and she replied "Oh that mermaid... you don't know how many times I've thinked of her. She would make my dreams come true." :) Apparently she wasn't enough though. It was not pleasant on the whole, but we're all happy it's out. :) And she has her fruity mermaid. She is sure getting big! We pulled out the bikes and she rode hers all the way to the Doctor's office and back. I was so proud of her keeping up. I wish I had gotten pictures. These are my recent favorite sayings:
"Seth is screaming muddy blurder!" (Amberlee)
"I dig-dog dare you!" (Autumn)

Helpful Annie...
Notice how my pictures of Seth are usually in the high chair while he is "strapped down". That boy is off and running! I wanted to take a picture of him sporting his cute PJ's from Grandma Kaye and this is as good as it got...
Ok- this is a really fruity picture of me (taken by Amberlee- thanks honey. :) However, it gives you a great visual of how effective my work-out rutine is with Seth around. :) My mom gave me "Melt it off with Mitch!"-- I know that sounds incredibly cheesy, but I have loved it so far. It is actually one that I can follow- pretty basic stuff, but a REALLY GOOD work out. (Thanks mom!) I would totally recomend it. I have felt great. The trouble is, it involves a ball, and then when I'm down on the ground... well Seth just wants to wrestle. :) I have been trying to do it while he naps because he thinks it is play time while I'm on the floor. He crawls all over me... it is hard enough as it is... Come on Seth! I've got to loose that baby fat you shared with me! :) *Amberlee does the entire work out with me. (If I haven't done it, she reminds me all day until we do- such a cheer leader!) She uses a little soccer ball. :) It is really cute. Autumn, on the other hand, sits and watches us from behind, sucking her thumb, holding her blanket, and asking if she can hold my ball whenever I put it down. The little couch potato! :) (The little tennis ball I gave her just wasn't enough to motivate her to join us. :) Not to mention I'm working in about a 5x5 area- I've already kicked Amberlee a couple times. :) Got to love apartment life!
