Also In February...

We tried to maintain a positive attitude about the snow. :) 

(Really- the winter was great here!  We had a couple snowy weeks, but most of the time it melted before noon.  It wasn't bad at all.)

We went to the zoo on the coldest, WETTEST day possible, and still managed to have a great time. 

("Free admission" always helps with that. :)

Thank goodness for snow suits!

The boys and I hit the aquarium a couple times and happened to catch feeding time... quite fascinating. :)

We had a fun Valentine's Day.  Even Doug jumped on board and made these cute little Minions for the kids.  He is such a fun dad! Not to mention my beautiful roses!

These were the Valentines the kids handed out- I thought they turned out cute. :)

We made cookies... but mostly ate them.

Autumn won the Valentine poetry contest for our apartment newsletter.  She was quite pleased with herself. :)

February

February, so cold and gray

But there is beauty in this month

And love and notes galore

The pink newness of Valentines

Even if the sky is dark

Love makes a beautiful February

We made some new friends.  Mr. and Mrs. Mallard stopped by regularly for bread.

Hit a couple parks.

Got out of a couple tight spots.

Went on walks when the sun came out.

And here's a fun one:  We were invited to a "Florescent Food Day" Celebration.  It was incredibly fun and delicious.  I couldn't believe all the yellow dishes people came up with.  It was great! My favorite was the yellow chili with turmeric seasoning.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

And Doug deserves kisses, because...

...he built me a much needed computer,

and bought me these fun shows after I casually mentioned how I would really like to watch 7 Brides.

And we have almost figured out how to do our own hair...

...almost. :)

Lyd's Little Learners...

 (Way back in February...)

The kids and I headed to the local University for a fun Science fair.  It was pretty cool.  I'm not even that into science stuff, and I was totally amazed by the 3D printer and the dry ice experiments-- like shattering rubber balloons.  How cool is that?!

Then later that month, we held preschool Olympics for "O" day!

We ate olives and cheeri-O's. :)

And of course we had to have the closing ceremonies. We had a great time!

And Preschool Day 2, more fun with O.  Love this cute little group of learners!

And squeezing in a little artistic fun I had making a bulletin board for my wards primary.

I drew this onto a big poster board.  I had a lot of fun and I thought it turned out cute. :)

January Recap...

Trying to catch up in fast motion.  Time flies!

So in January, we...

Played games (Autumn dominated Skip Bo)

Visited the aquarium.

Spent way to much time on this puzzle. :)

Celebrated the birth of my favorite man!

Played with our Christmas toys.

Got served Breakfast in bed.

Developed Cabin Fever and went a little crazy.

Went on house hunting drives that put the kids to sleep.

Reenacted "Frozen" a few too many times.

Played hard.

Won an award for awesomeness in the "Sit and Reach".

(Between Doug's short Olson legs and my long ape-arms, we have given these kids the perfect genetic formula for success in this department.)

Partied.

Had a lunch date.

Did some occasional cleaning...

And flooding of the bathroom.

In addition to soaking up water on the bathroom floor, we also...

Soaked in whatever sunshine we could get.

Enjoyed friends.

 And January went out with a bang.  I tended 13 kids one night- that's a record for me.

(Not pictured: a couple trips to the doctor for strep-- but who wants to remember that anyway? :)
