Look at all these cute little bottoms! My friend and I went on a walk to the park and this made a good pit stop.
Ok… so technically, I probably shouldn’t include this one in our park hopping, because this is Sunny Side Park in Pullman, but we still had fun there and there is nothing you can do to keep me from posting about it. :) I was so proud of myself being able to find it after just going there one time before for a stake activity and getting terribly lost—is it just me or is Pullman very difficult to navigate through? We stopped here after a trip to wal-mart and had a fun little picnic in the shade by the pond. The pond and the ducks were definitely the highlight. However, I had difficulty convincing the kids that they needed their sandwiches more then the ducks. :) We compromised with the crust.
…And the fun continues! We went to this park one evening after dinner- it was just the perfect weather. I love being outside and just laying on the lawn on a summer evening as things cool down. I miss that- it’s not the same when you are in an apartment (/fishbowl)… so if you are in a house and have a yard, would you just go outside and enjoy that for me tonight. :) This is an interesting park- it is kind of a triangle shape in the middle of a subdivision. Doug said when they started turning it into a park some of the locals really put up a stink--standing out there protesting. They were not very happy to open their front door to a play ground, I guess. So as we played, I was admittedly wary, watching neighborhood doors opening and wondering, “Was it you?” :) I’m loving all the funny things Doug tells me that people do in this city- in any city. People are more vocal then you might think.
They have some nice play ground equipment here- Amberlee liked the monkey bars and Autumn spent her time at the little house where she played “restaurant.” I’m a little sad about what passes as a teeter-totter these days… “Safety first, last, and always…” but that thing didn’t move, even with my “big momma” efforts. Wasn’t the danger of flipping off those things or getting wacked half the thrill? :) I’m just saying.
We are so lucky to have nice neighbors! The kids have had fun playing with them outside this summer. Here are some of their adventures. I was hoping to keep them occupied/entertained by putting dish soap in a bin and giving them straws to make volcano bubbles. They thought it was pretty cool, but Seth thought they got a little carried away… and so did I. :)
The oldest boy knocked on our door so cute and invited us to their Vacation Bible School at the Seven Day Adventist church (he was excited to get an extra prize for being a “Fisher of Men”), so I took the kids and they absolutely loved it. They learned scriptures stories, memorized bible scriptures, made crafts, played games, and Seth’s favorite part was the snack. (I think the kids thrived on having a bit of structure to our laid back summer. :)
And of course you have to pull out the slip and slide and popsicles or summer just wouldn’t be summer. Thanks for being such great friends and neighbors!
You thought I was joking about how many parks there are in this little town, didn’t you. There are more to come. :) Here is one of my favorites that we like to walk or ride our bikes to. There are a bunch of pretty trees around it, so it is nicely shaded in the summer, and the playground equipment is great! (Although somehow I always manage to push one of the kids out of the swing. :)

“This here’s Cherry Tree Lane…” (Dick Van Dyke was saying as we made our way to this park.) Cherry Street led us to a quaint little tiny nameless park at the top of a hill by a water tower. This is definitely a park I never would have discovered without Doug’s guidance. We had a fun private picnic there- the kids really love the toys, and I like the view and shade. Doug and Brigs took nice naps. :) I think we are starting to love this little town!
It is an unusual morning when I’m not awakened very early by one of the kids. They are my consistent little alarm clock, but this morning, the girls must have been exceptionally tired, because they were still snoozing, so I made them breakfast in bead and they were completely thrilled. Now they beg for it every morning… and I say no. :)
(Notice the bite marks on Autumn’s bed- what would you do if your child was eating her bed? I have tucked her in and found big old wood chips in her mouth. It’s like having a little puppy. Any suggestions? I think I’m going to attach a chew toy or a teething ring.)

Amberlee is into initials lately. I love how petite I am. One big happy family.
Like father, like son. These are my belly sleepers. I can’t get Brigham to sleep any other way… the S.I.D.s people would have a fit.
